They should have jumped on the situation at first suspicion. Also they should have at least put some extra guard at the fort. Also they would have been able to make contact with major Al-Queda leader, because Anwar Al-Awlak had links to Al-Queda.

The main reason, I am against what the FBI did was that it could have easily been prevented, and many lives saved. Around a week before the massacre they knew it could have happened. The FBI claimed they did not have enough prof to act. I think if it involves Al-Queda action should be taken into full concern. So lives can be saved

Also if the y had stopped it before it happened they could have gotten important information they could have saved lives by preventing other acts.

What if we went after the given information and they were not with who was planning the massacre? That would be better to be safe then sorry and we could have had some allies that was dangerous.

Precautions are better to be used then never used at all. Lives could have been saved if only the FBI took action against the threat. I am angry about how the situation took place because no one took action until several lives were lost.

Bombs or no Bombs?

I am against the removing of out Nuclear Missiles from Germany. This could put our nations safety at risk. This could also put our nations foreign relations at risk. Do we want to lose our freedom for something that could be easily worked out.

Our nation could be at risk of nuclear attack. Removing all warheads could cause Germany to build there own warheads in the same places and use them against us. Other US enemies could also build warheads that could be used against us. This will also put at risk of getting hit in other ways as well. Because we would have no way to threaten them and they would attack us.

Removing our weapons could also put our foreign relations at risk. This would occur because our allies would not feel as safe. This would make our allies, who do not have nuclear weapons, feal less at ease knowing they do not have protection.

What about relations with Germany? Well, they threatened to shoot us if we do not move them, so what would happen if we did not have weapons to put them at ease.

In my eyes the extra protection in Germany is a good think because it keeps and lets people know that we do not want to fight.
<img width='1' height='1' Pink. Pink explains what Empathy is. He explains the Empathy is putting your self in someone else's shoes. Putting yourself in someone else's position and realize how they feel.

Some people say I am not very nice, and some people say I am a good person to talk to when they have problems. I wanted to see what one I was more like.

Pink discussed many other elements that are important in our life. This chapter just caught my attention more than any of the others. I took the EQ quiz that Pink suggested in the portfolio in the end of the chapter. From the quiz it showed that I am empathetic. You can see my score, and you could talk the quiz at http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/SystemizingQuotient/SystemizingQuotient.aspx.

Publish Post

Your score: 43
0 - 19 = low
20 - 39 = average (most women score about 24 and most men score about 30)
40 - 50 = above average (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score in this range)
51 - 80 is very high (three times as many people with Asperger Syndrome score in this range, compared to typical men, and almost no women score in this range)
80 is maximum

Please specify your gender.

Reflexion of Sophmore year

This has been one of the best years of my life! I made a lot of new friends. I met a lot of new teachers. I have had more homework this year than I ever had before, but I did not mind. I have just taken the hardest class I have ever taken, Pre-Ap Chemistry. I loved Key Club and Beta club.

I would like to thank all my teachers, especially Mr. Russell. He helped me threw Pre-Ap Chemistry. Without him being such a nice man I would have failed. Also thank you Mrs. Gillmore. For working with me this year, threw all my computer problems. I also look forward to being on yearbook staff next year. Also, thanks alot Coach Armstrong you are a great teacher and I loved your class. I also loved Desktop Publishing. That was one of the most fun classes I have ever had. You made the class fun Mrs. Crossett do not change anything. I really would like to thank Mr. Williams. He gave me the most fun and exiting oppertunity I have ever been in. I felt great being apart of somthing big, and I would love to be your sound man again next year. That was the main saying George to Lennie threw out John Steinbeck's OF Mice and Men. This story takes place in the state of California during the dust bowl age. George and Lennie are cousins. They travel together from work camp to work camp. They are broke. Lennie has some minor mental problems. The two have been talking about getting a farm with animals on it. Lennie likes animals. He carried mice in his pockets but they kept dieing. Having killed many small animals, George would not let Lennie have a pet.

Later on, after a friend they made gave Lennie a puppy he accidentally petted it to rough. That play an important role later on. Lennie is a rough but really nice guy. This book has a surprising ending. You leave yourself thinking, I now understand.

This is a pretty good book. Very boring in the start. However once you get to the middle the story starts coming together. I recommend this book to anyone. You will understand the bad language once you get to chapter two. Enjoy your reading.

House on Mango Street Review

We should all be thankful for all the stuff we have. In Sandra Cisneros's House on Mango Street Esperanza is a Hispanic girl that live in a poor district of Chicago. She lives with her mom, dad, and sister. She lives in a fairly bad end neighborhood. They live in a house that is to small and is not very nice. She is in school. She also has never been out of her neighborhood her school is just down the street from her. Her mother never when to college and dropped out of high school. Having not been to college, her mother wants Esperanza to go to college, so she can move to a better place.

The story talks about the young life of Esperanza. The story talks about how Sandra Cisceros grew up in a poor part of town. She tells in a people friendly way how Hispanic people lived back when she was a kid. She opens a window into her life.

This is a pretty good book. This novel is written very differently than what I am used to. Also, the novel was kinda hard to follow. I had trouble finding a specific plot. However, I recommend this book. Sandra Cisceros teacher many lessons in this story. We all need to see how our live could be worse.

So Much Depends Upon....

So much depends upon
how we see ourselves.
How we live our lives.
Do we really need
everything we have?

War of the Worlds Review

The biggest war man kind has ever sean has just begun. In the classic War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells the main character, Wells himself, talks about how the martians invaded Earth. He explains how the citizens reacted to the crash of the cylinder. He explains how hard it was to find a safe place that the Martians will not find. At one point, the novel changes points of view. Wells' s brother tells the how the invasions is viewed by the people in London.

The first cylinders land in the common of a small town in a suburb of London England. The people start watching the cylinder as the heat for entry fades. After about a day martians come out and vaporize people with a heat ray. The following sequence of event begins the worst battle in human history. Having guns not sean by people before, the aliens are almost impossible to take down.

This is a classic that is not boring, and is written so if feels as though you are actually there watching the events unfold. I recommend this classic to all. Having read and like the The Time Machine by H.G Wells, I knew that I would like this book. This is how Jonas of Lois Lowery's The Giver lived. Jonas was a member of a normal family in his community, consisting of two parents, one boy child, and one girl child. The story took place in a community that all believed was perfect. There was no violence, all people were the same, and there was great health care. If you go behind the scenes there is more than there appears to be.

Jonas, after becoming a twelve, is assigned the job of receiver. He receives all the memories of the community. He starts to see color and feel new sensations, such as love. His father is a nurture and brings home a baby named Gabriel. Jonas ends up building a strong relationship with Gabriel. This will lead Jonas to make a life risking choice.

Jonas has to decide whether he will stay home and let Gabriel die, or to run away and save Gabriel and let him reach him life time goal. Lets say you were a farmer and all your animals got together and ran you off your own farm. How would you react? I know how I would react, and I would fight back. This is what happened to Mr. Jones in this book. Except, he tried to fight back and failed.

The story took place on a farm in the English country side. There were not very many close neighbors. In the book the author states how pretty the view is.

Now, lets go back to history class. Remember learning about the Russian Revolution? That is basically the same thing in this story. They over threw there ruler, started peacefully and ended up starting a dictatorship. Only the smartest received the good treatment, best food, and best sleeping places. The strict rules were so strictly punished that there were even executions.

The animals started trading with nearby farms when the money runs low. Except for one farm were a traitor of animal farms is believed to be hiding. This book left me wandering what will happen next all the way threw. I also realized how animals might actually feel. This is a great book and recommends Animal Farm to everyone.

Favorite Techie Tool

My favorite tool that I have access to hear at the High School is Microsoft Office. With this software I am able to type essays that are automatically checked for grammar and spelling, big help for me. Also I can make presentations, charts, graphs, and much more. This software has made my life much easier. The spellcheck is very useful to me. I also enjoy the fact that I can type something in Word and put that document strait into a PowerPoint.

Typing an essay, has become the only way some teachers will take them. Why type on software that has no helpful tools, when you can have hundreds of tools all in one package. This software has made school work easier. Well, I did absolutely nothing over Spring Break, till Thursday. On Thursday the tech team started building the set for Oklahoma. Other than three day of the break I did nothing but drive my mom and sister places. Kiwanis hosted the Hog BBQ at River Side Park on Friday. That day I had a bad run in with a mud puddle and my car, not fun.

I had quite a bit of fun building the set. With one exception, me and Mr. Williams did all the lifting. I had to unload the whole trailer of material all by myself. Then on Saturday, me and Mr. Williams's dad had to cut lumber out in the cold for an hour. In that cold rain and wind. I did a lot of sitting and doing nothing all week. A break from school was nice, but I hope everyone else had a better break.

Anthem Essay

I could not imagine what life would be like living to only forty. I wrote about why the life expectancy is so low in the time of Equality 7-2521. There are three main reasons why. One is there is no hope for anyone. There is no freedom for anyone. Worst of all the living conditions are very bad.

The mothers and fathers can not look forward to seeing there children grow up. The citizens know that when they reach forty that they are about to die, and they are going to be put in the Home of the Useless. No hope is a major cause of death due to the lose of the will to live.

In terms of having no freedom, the people do not chose the job they want. They are treated harshly. Laughing, singing, and smiling warrant punishment if they have no reason to do to do those activities. Having no entertainment causes people to rather die of boredom. Many people would rather die than live with no freedom.

The living conditions in that time are very bad. There are no less than twelve people living in one house. Also bleeding is the method of healing people. In the novel they thought of a shower is never mentioned. Severe punishment follows any crime. The people are beaten for a crime as small a stealing a candle. Harsh treatment has the most effect on the the life expectancy.

These are the three main causes of short life. Either one could cause any person in this time to lose the will to live.

Star Trek Crossover

Will you be willing to die to save a friend? The ship he served on with Caption James Kirk.

Admiral Leonard McCoy who is one hundred and forty five years old. He is told he will be put on the Enterprise D to negotiate a release of Spock, his long time friend. Of course, he is a stubborn as he always was.

This book has not one particular setting. They are constantly move there the galaxy. The book is written in an easy style. Lets take a trip to the life of Equality 7-2521, to see what a perfect world is like. In Ayn Rand's Anthem what a perfect world is like will be reviled. I was stuck on the book from the very beginning.

The main character in the story is Equality 7-2521. He is a young man living in city where all citizens are designated a career. They only go to school for eight years. Unless they are chosen to be a scholar. All the people belonging to on group live in the same house. Being a street sweeper is the lowest job on the scale. One day while cleaning behind the theater. Equality and a few of his co-workers discovered a secret place.

The life in the city is harsh. Being caught in the secret place, would lead to severe punishment. Stealing a candle, they could get up to ten years in detention where they would be beaten and starved. Dozens of people live in one house. They are on strict time. Work, sleep, and relax only at certain time. People of one house can not talk to people in another house.

After being chased out of town, Equality goes into the Uncharted forest, so the people in the city would not catch him and put him in detention. Also so he can archive what he always wanted.

This was a great book. I would recommend this book to any one. If you like to read and think, what if, this book is for you. I would like to read other Ayn Rand books, because they are just good books. Trust me you will never be left wandering what is about to happen.

To Perfect my World...

How many of us have wanted to change the world? This is what Susan Fletcher and David Becker have to prevent in Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. With a lot of action and suspense Digital Fortress is a book for anyone who likes action.

Dan Brown wrote many other action novels. I have read all of them and this novel is just as good of a read as the rest. This novel is written in the same style as all the others. Leaving in the suspense in all his books, Dan Brown makes all his novels an exiting read.

The United States government has just bought a huge computer that can unscramble any code called TRANSLTR. A top secret government agency called National Security Agency, NSA, has purchased this computer to prevent terrorist from sending coded messages to other terrorist inside or out of the United States. Thinking the people of the US may consider TRANSLTR a breech of privacy, the government never told any one about the device.

Susan Fletcher is the head Cryptographer at the NSA Crypto facility. David Becker is a foreign-language specialist Georgetown University. Commander Greg Strathmore is in charge of the facility. There also are three other Cryptographers and many engineers who work on TRANSLTR in the facility.

Susan Fletcher head Cryptographer notices a code that TRANSLTR has been working on for Eighteen hours, and most files take less than one hour. A few days latter a strange address sends them an email. Sending the email, let the NSA figure up a way to shut down Digital Fortress. The virus that will shut down TRANSLTER and expose the main government data bank to any one with Internet access. Exposing the data bank, will put the nation at risk of attack and total chaos of the citizens.

The NSA sends in David Becker to receive the ring that has the code to shut down Digital Fortress. In the mean time, Susan Fletcher is trying to convince the head boss of the whole operation that there is a problem. David is nearly shot to death, and Susan is nearly blown to bits. Will the two succeed?

I would recommend this book to anyone. This book has got a lot of action, and is a story that leaves you wandering, what if. However, if you have a little bit of a soft stomach this novel will leave you wanting to turn away at times. This book is for any one who likes to left on the edge of there seat for the whole story, till the end.

The Call of the Wild Review

To kill or be killed! is what Buck has to think about in Call of the Wild by Jack London, through his adventures through the Yukon. That philosophy is what kept Call of the Wild interesting for me. Story's based on real life experiences, for me, are the most interesting.

Experiencing the life of a Yukon miner, influenced Jack London to write Call of the Wild. Jack London wrote this book telling reader about how hard life is in the Yukon. London wrote Call of the Wild in a very serious voice. Trying to keep people interested, London wrote the book with a lot of action and examples of taking a stand.

The story was written threw the eyes of Buck. The book explains how Buck goes from a gentle farm dog to a rough and tough sled dog. The story setting changes threw out the story. The setting starts at Bucks home in the south. By the middle of the story Buck is in the Yukon and will stay there. Through the style of writing I was able to feel as though I was right there in the middle of what was happening.

Killing a team member, Buck is able to achieve a goal he has always wanted. Remember kill of be killed? If Buck had not killed that other dog he would have been killed. Buck has many other stands he took latter on, or he would have been killed.

I would recommend this book to anybody. This book is written in a great style. I know we all have read classics that are boring, but Call of the Wild is not one of those books.

Antigone Review

Could you imagine what life could be like knowing you could not bury you dead relative? Would you be willing to die your self? That is the main plot to Antigone a play by Sophocles. That is the question Antigone is based on, and Antigone had not a choice on what to do.

For me this play was not real interesting. However, I like the example of taking a stand the play shows. There are also many life lessons to be learned form this play. Have you ever been greedy? Well, this play will show what kinds consequences come from being greedy.

This play was real hard for me to understand. I did not know the characters well. I had trouble understanding the plot. Even though I did not like Antigone that does not mean you will not. It is a classic and everyone need to read some classics in there life, so why not read something famous and easy to read. Just read slow and careful.

Taking a Stand

We all have times were we took a stand. We all take stands against our friends and family. I took a stand against a friend of mine. She was very hateful to me at the start of the school year. She would say things that was not true. She is now getting a taste of her own medicine.

Me and another friend of mine are saying stuff that is kinda true but not quite. She is getting so made at me. I hear of her griping about my hatefulness to to her friends. She is wanting to get me and my other friend in trouble. In order to stay out of trouble we are just not speaking to her at all. She is wandering why we do not talk to her.

I do not like having to do that to people, but if it is the only thing to do to stay out of trouble then I will do it. The past eighteen weeks will be eighteen weeks I will never forget. I now know what high school is really about. High school is very different form junior high. I have made many new friends. The homework was not quite as bad as I thought it would be. With the exception of one class. my favorite class so far is probably Geometry. I really like my teacher. He is really funny and a real good teacher.

I have really enjoyed being able to drive myself to school. I have not had my fare share of embarrassing moments so far this year. One incident was on my birthday when one of my friends had someone come storming in my first period class singing to me. The most memorable moment will have to be homecoming. That was my first homecoming. The first girl I ever ask to any thing. All in all it has been a real good year so far. I hope to have an even better second semester.

Julius Caesar, Speech of Mark Antony

In act three of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is one of the best example of leadership in the play. Mark Antony has the best qualities of a leader. Antony has more control over the people of Rome. When Caesar is assassinated Antony calmed down the mob. Antony was able to show people that Caesar being assassinated was a good for the empire. In act three Antony changed the mind of the people in the empire on the killers of Caesar, Brutus and Cassius. Killing Julius Caesar, helped the empire in the eyes of Antony.

Our president elect Barrack Obama has a lot of the same characteristics. Being able to speak, Obama won the election. This habit is about seeking first to understand. This statement means you need to learn the other persons side of the story before you act. Also it means cut the clamor while the other person is trying to tell you something. In the novel, the author, Sean Covey, is trying to improve family relationships.

Hear is an example. you are wanting to go out with a friend. Your moms wants you to stay home and go to a movie with the family. You can hear her side of the story and tell her yours. You can ask her if you can invite the friend to go with you and your family instead of arguing.

Compromising is a good way to improve your family and friend relationships. The best way is to learn the other persons side on the issue before you get upset or cause a fight. Being nice not mean is the best way to keep everyone happy.

My Thoughts on 7 Habits

I can most relate to Habit One, "Be Proactive", in 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. In this chapter the author, Sean Covey, describes how a person should be proactive. I am a recycling freak. I recycle everything. When I see people throwing recyclable items in the trash, I do not let it upset me. In 7 Habits, Sean Covey describes that a person should not let people who say bad things about him up set him. I try to follow that philosophy.

Being proactive is real important to me. I like to see people trying not to get upset over small things. I feal the same way. I try to to a lot of the ideal Sean explained in 7 Habits. Such as let it slide and do the job your self. Those are good steps to a happier life.

Night at the Dance

I went to the homecoming dance last Friday. It was so much fun. I danced with a girl for the first time. I was so nerves. We also had photos taken. That was the most fun I had in a long time. There also was a bad part. They played no good music. A lot of the people were dancing in a very improper way. I feal the same way Mrs. Gillmore, that was nasty what they were doing. That was not the dance style for a formal occasion. Pulling in, I nearly took the bumber of the Art teachers car, it was a little funny. All in all, even threw the embarrassment, it was fun. Dillard is a good example of why science fiction is my favorite genre. You can see for you self why at http://books.google.com/books?id=ftYq-yjtp4QC. There are many reasons why I like Science Fiction.

The action is the main reason why I like Science Fiction. I like it when there are fights and explosions. When there is a car chase or a foot chase either one is fine with me. No madder what else the explosion are the best part.

Who does not like suspense? I do not know, but I love suspense. When you are left on the edge of your seat wander what is about to happen. Waiting on something to happen has the biggest affect. Irony will also fall under this category. Don't you just love it when you know something that one of the characters do not?

This is how I feal about Science fiction, and I hope you feal the same adout the genre. These are what sticks out most to me. I think he is the better man for the job. I realy like his evienmental plans. I am almost an envirnmentalist and like to see that he cares about the envirnment. Such as having 1 million hybrid cars on the road with in the next two years. Also the tax break for the middle class Americans and seniors. I have doughts on him being Muslim, but if he does a good job I don not think it will hert him any. I think change is what we need. As long as it is for the better. That is why I would chuse Senator Obama for president.
