The Giver Review

What would you do if you were the only person in a whole community that knew the past and how you really lived? This is how Jonas of Lois Lowery's The Giver lived. Jonas was a member of a normal family in his community, consisting of two parents, one boy child, and one girl child. The story took place in a community that all believed was perfect. There was no violence, all people were the same, and there was great health care. If you go behind the scenes there is more than there appears to be.

Jonas, after becoming a twelve, is assigned the job of receiver. He receives all the memories of the community. He starts to see color and feel new sensations, such as love. His father is a nurture and brings home a baby named Gabriel. Jonas ends up building a strong relationship with Gabriel. This will lead Jonas to make a life risking choice.

Jonas has to decide whether he will stay home and let Gabriel die, or to run away and save Gabriel and let him reach him life time goal. I did not really like this book. However, I recommend this book to anyone. Enjoy your reading.
